About the Major

The Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages program plays a vital role in preparing highly qualified professionals in language education. The students have the opportunity to participate in various projects, including community programs where they teach English to students from rural public schools. They also participate in international projects with Rhodes College from the USA and Ouro Preto, Brazil, allowing our pre-service teachers to make connections and learn about different topics that enhance their perspective on English teaching. Through a comprehensive approach, future educators develop linguistic, pedagogical, and cultural competencies that empower them to teach English effectively and meaningfully. This training not only ensures language mastery but also equips teachers with diverse methodologies to adapt lessons to students' needs. As graduates, they become essential contributors to educational development, supporting learners with the skills to communicate in a globalized world and make a lasting, positive impact on future generations.

Inspiring Stories

I chose to study PINE at UDA because its curriculum stood out as modern, well-structured, and aligned with my linguistic interests, unlike the outdated programs at other institutions. UDA’s emphasis on professionalism, including the C1 English requirement for graduation, reflects its high standards. My goal as an English teacher is to break traditional methods, inspire creativity, and make learning engaging and lasting for students. Coming from a low socioeconomic background and poor public schooling, I became self-taught, which ignited a deep passion for education. I aim to transform the educational system by empowering students to go beyond the curriculum, think independently, and believe in themselves.

My reason for studying this major at UDA was because of the opportunities that are found within the career and the university. We can participate in different projects that will be helpful in the future. I hope to make a difference as an English teacher by helping students with their learning and making them more interested in the language so they can see English as something fun and not another subject.

My reason to study this major is that my passion resides in teaching people other languages and facilitating the process, and not making it look like such a daunting task to learn a new language. Learning should be fun and exciting for newcomers, which is why I appreciate this major, because it surprised me with the quality of the classes. I look forward to my future colleagues joining this major and becoming the best English teachers they can be.

I chose Pedagogía de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros because becoming an English teacher has been my dream since childhood. I’ve always wanted to help others discover the joy of learning new languages and open doors to different cultures.

As for UDA, my mother always spoke highly of it—she told me it was a university with outstanding professors and strong values. Her encouragement led me here, and I’m truly grateful. I feel I’m exactly where I need to be to grow into the teacher I aspire to become.

In the future, I hope to inspire my students with the same creativity, patience, and passion that my own teachers once showed me.

I chose to major in Pedagogía de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros because I have always excelled in English since my school years, and I knew I had to make the most of that strength. My main inspiration for becoming a teacher is to teach in the way I would have liked to be taught — with clarity, patience, and inclusivity — ensuring that every student can learn at their own pace. I decided to study at Universidad del Azuay because I was confident in the high academic standards and quality education it offers.

I’ve always dreamed of becoming an English teacher ever since I saw my family and friends communicating in another language. I chose UDA because it’s a prestigious institution, and I’m determined to put in the effort to become a skilled and accomplished professional.

Hi, I’m Nahia. I’ve always wanted to be an English teacher, and I chose to study at UDA because the curriculum offered exactly what I needed to become the best educator I can be. It includes a wide range of subjects that I believe are essential for my growth as a teacher. My passion for teaching comes from inspiring role models in my life, and in the future, I hope to be a teacher who students trust and remember with fondness—a teacher who truly understands them and supports their growth with patience and motivation.

I've been fascinated by the English language since I was 9 years old. It was always my favorite subject in school, and I took the initiative to teach myself in my free time. I've visited the United States a couple of times, where I became even more captivated by how English connects me—an Ecuadorian—to people from all over the world. This experience inspired me to teach others and share the incredible opportunities the language offers. I chose UDA because I believe the knowledge I’ll gain will enrich my teaching approach in creative and impactful ways, while also helping me grow as a professional.
