Where Tomorrow's Teachers Begin

Where Tomorrow's Teachers Begin

Every time I enter a classroom, I remind myself that I am not just teaching university students. I am teaching future teachers, people who will one day stand before students and shape how they see themselves and the world. That responsibility is humbling and energizing. My work is not about delivering perfect lessons or having every answer. It is about creating a space where curiosity is welcome, questions matter, and learning becomes a shared adventure.

Some of the most meaningful moments happen when a student challenges an idea, connects a theory to a real-world situation, or realizes that teaching requires more than knowing a subject. In our classes, we encourage open discussions, active participation, and critical reflection, creating a space where every voice matters and different perspectives are valued. We go beyond theories and textbooks to explore the everyday decisions teachers make and how these can shape a more humane, inclusive, and compassionate classroom.  Along the way, they teach me to reconsider my assumptions, too.

What keeps me inspired is knowing our classroom's impact may travel beyond its walls. Above all, I want my future teachers to understand that teaching is not simply about sharing knowledge but about building relationships, fostering a sense of belonging, and creating opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and feel valued. I cannot predict where my students will be tomorrow, but I hope they carry one conviction with them: education is not about filling minds.

It is about opening doors.
