Why did I become a teacher? It must have been fate. But why did I stay in this profession? There are certainly many reasons. Starting classes at university and learning in depth what education was about, I found myself immersed in this world, falling in love with it. I couldn’t escape from it. The more I learned, the more I realized I was truly passionate about teaching, especially when I began applying this knowledge to teach English.
Being an English teacher has been an incredible journey of experiences and constant growth. I’ve come to understand that each of my students is a unique world deserving care and attention. Over the years, I’ve heard countless life stories from my students; some of them have gone through difficult circumstances which have taught me to be more empathetic and to work on this value to be stronger.
On the other hand, as part of the major of Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages, I have had satisfaction seeing my students improve their language and hearing their grateful words fills my heart immensely. Also, as part of the Academic Board I have witnessed the constant evolution of the students and the daily hard work of the professors who are part of it.
To conclude, becoming an English teacher has been the best decision I have ever made. Thus, I feel so grateful with life that allowed me to be part of this major at UDA as a professor and part of the academic board which also gave me insightful experiences to be a better person and professional.
